Although I have on numerous occasions thanked you verbally for a job well done, a situation well analyzed, a confound clarified, and an impasse overcome, I thought it only right to formalize my thanks to you in writing and to cover a much broader spectrum.

We had considered a "Frieda Migration Project" as early as April 1993 with the objective to move all mainframe Pick Basic business applications to a state-of-the-art client-server environment. As the project encompassed virtually 80% of our mission critical code and data stores, we stretched the old system as long as possible so as to take advantage of rapidly improving developmental/operational software and hardware. The project finally came to life in Spring 1997 as mean time between failures shortened and the year 2,000 wall drew nearer. The project experienced a rough beginning.

After two false starts, you joined the project as analyst, designer, architect, programmer, acceptance tester and project manager on September 15, 1997. We may now speak of the migration in the past tense and in the most positive of terms. John, this project got its life and success from you. It has been an absolute joy to have someone of your work ethic, intelligence, and solid abilities on our staff. It is both a victory and disappointment that we will now see you but once a week for the coming months- this documents your success but also leaves a hole in my day.

In the coming days you will be receiving a token of our appreciation for a job well done. Thanks again--you said you could make it happen . . . and you did.

We're coming close to the 2 month anniversary of the new server installation. Looking back to the week of installation in early October, I'm still amazed at how many changes we made to the computer system here at Besicorp. Not only did we install the new server (which turns out to be quite the powerhouse) but we eliminated the backup domain controller at Corporate, changed configurations on all work stations at all sites, upgraded NT on the servers at those sites, reconfigured Macola, the list goes on and on. We are far from finished but we sure did accomplish a lot. I'm really glad Robert, that through all these changes, you and your staff were onsite and available via telephone to work it through with us.

Working with you was my pleasure. I had the opportunity to learn so much from you and I know that the opportunity will still be available to me in future projects. Scott was a delight as well. He certainly comes equipped with an abundance of NT knowledge and was tremendously helpful to me in your absence.

As I stated earlier Robert, we are hardly finished here. I am gearing up to modify our existing data communications arenas and add channels to our office in IL. I am very much looking forward to working with you on this project and on others down the road.
